Want your new floors laid perfectly the first time? Floating Floors Direct installs timber, laminate, hybrid, bamboo, cork and vinyl floating floors right across Sydney — from our Hornsby base out to the Northern Beaches, Castle Hill, the Inner West and beyond.
Our commitment doesn’t end at the checkout: the same trusted team that supplies your floor also lays it, backed by a workmanship warranty. That means one accountable point of contact for both supply and installation, and a floor built to last.
One honest note: no underlay can guarantee a rating on its own, because performance depends on your specific slab, ceiling and build-up — only an on-site test proves a result. What we can do is match you with products that have the test data behind them to give you the best chance of compliance, and take the stress out of the paperwork. Prefer a floor that arrives quiet out of the box? Many hybrid floors come with pre-attached acoustic underlay that meets 5–6 star requirements.

If you live in an apartment, unit or townhouse, your building almost certainly has rules about floor noise — and getting them wrong can mean tearing a brand-new floor back up. Here’s how it works, and how we make it painless.
Most Sydney strata schemes measure floor noise using the AAAC Acoustic Star Rating system, which runs from 2 to 6 stars — the higher the star rating, the quieter the floor. In practice, most apartment buildings require a 5-star rating, and some stricter by-laws call for 6 stars. Behind those stars sit impact-noise measurements like Ln,w and L’nT,w (lower numbers mean less noise passes through to the unit below), and the National Construction Code sets a baseline for new buildings — but your strata by-laws can be tougher, so they’re what you need to check first.
The process is straightforward when you know the steps:
